Trip Overview

Are you ready to challenge yourself on an adventure that stays with you for an eternity! We might have the perfect experience planned for you. Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek probably is one of the most popular trekking itineraries in Nepal. The journey up in the mountains is undoubtedly tiring, but the views are definitely worth the prize! Come and join the people who share similar interests as you accompany them on the journey to the Himalayas. The trail is a roller coaster of terrains going up and down as you travel on one of the most loved high-altitude treks in Nepal.

The ABC trek is a relatively short trek that happens to be popular even amongst the nationals in Nepal. The hike gives people a chance to capture the close-up views of the Annapurna range and many other mountains. The trip is indeed a step to help you quench your thirst for the mountains. An excellent opportunity to view the mountains as you stand directly beneath them, breathing the air of the Himalayas near the Annapurna Sanctuary.

During the spring season, travelers can see many species of flora and fauna, including the national flower of Nepal, the Rhododendron. You can expect to see many waterfalls and learn about the rich culture of the Magar and Gurung people living in the region. The trek is doable for most people with an average fitness level and does not require any prior trekking experience. One of the most commercialized and accessible tours in Nepal, we start with the beautiful city of Pokhara as our first trek route. Our trekking journey continues to traverse the villages surrounded by lush green mountains, quiet mountainous villages, and bamboo forests as we travel to Ghorepani, Chhomrong, and ABC through Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC).

Why do you need to get on this tour!

  • Travel to the Annapurna conservation area project that abodes numerous flora and fauna and trek to the Annapurna Base Camp’s highest point as you observe the Annapurna glacier!
  • One of the major trekking routes in Nepal will reward you with views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre range through MBC and ABC.
  • Indulge in the exquisite culture and tradition as you meet the humble hosts, the Gurung people, and be a part of the daily lives in Ghandruk village.
  • Enjoy the incredible sceneries, lush green landscapes, terraced farming, rhododendron forests, and glacier rivers as you walk through one of the most relaxed and comfortable tours in Nepal.
  • A possible trip all year round boasts of the views of the majestic (Fishtail mountain), the Machhapuchhre, Mt. Himchuli, Mt. Annapurna, and other neighboring ranges.
  • Travel to the beautiful Poon Hill, a vantage point for viewing the unreal beauty of the shining golden magical sunrise upon the mighty mountains.
  • Jump and de-stress in the natural hot springs of Jhinu Danda, a perfect spot to take the stress of the days away!
  • Celebrate the accomplishment of standing below the mountains with your team members at an elevation of 4130 meters!

In addition to the magnificent views, the Annapurna Base Camp Trek allows travelers an opportunity to go through the fantastic trekking trails through the cultural settlement of villages on the foothills of the Annapurna range. The region abodes the ethnic communities of the Magar and Gurung people. The communities still follow the local culture that has a heavy foundation of Buddhism and Hinduism. Along with the solid mountain views, the trail passes through the rural villages, waterfalls, beautiful landscapes, and sheer cliffs with rivers passing below. Additionally, you will be able to observe beautiful temples, monasteries, Gompas, and religious shrines representing the region’s local heritage.

The hosts of the region will warm you with their humble hospitality and continuous service. Similarly, the teahouses in the area will also help you keep comfortable at times. Furthermore, the enduring popularity of the Annapurna Base Camp Trek is due to its accessibility. We bet you will never realize how quickly time flies while you are up and running in the mountains.

Additionally, the journey is an enjoyable one because it is moderately complex and is doable even without any prior trekking experience.

Alternative treks you can consider!

The Annapurna region is home to an immense and diverse range of flora and fauna. We believe it is without a doubt one of the best treks to start your adventure journey with! Whether you are a nature or adventure lover, this is a trip you don’t want to leave behind.

If you do not feel like taking on the 14-day long itinerary, we can suggest some alternative treks of the same route. However, suppose you have lesser days on the calendar. In that case, you can take a look at our other packages of the area; the Annapurna Panorama Trek or the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, both of which are equally fun and will only take seven days to complete.

Dear Ganga and the entire team,

We, Narasipura family would like to thank you and your team for making once in a lifetime experience possible. All three of us loved every minute we spent in the Himalayas and Nepal. After my EBC trek, I wanted to experience Himalayas again with my family. Your team made it possible.

Every day, we knew what to expect because Paban explained us on previous evening and in the morning. In seven days, we trekked in the lush green forest, saw numerous waterfalls, were inside the clouds, refreshed ourselves in the river and stream water, took multiple breaks with tea, coffee.

Even though it was very hard, especially from 3rd to 5th day, we managed to get over the fatigue to continue because of Paban, Gokul and Ganesh’s help and encouragement. They used to tell us to take it easy (Aaramse jayenke) then we can do it, no need to rush. Paban modified the plan/itinerary based on the time of the day and our physical condition. We always ended the day before 5pm. Paban was flexible and booked the best teahouses, he made our trek very enjoyable. On fourth day, we were scheduled to trek to Upper Sinuwa. He changed it, we stayed at Lower Sinuwa. Because of 4th day’s change of plan, he modified fifth day trek too.

Every day, as soon as we woke up, we started off with a hot cup of coffee or tea, they served to us without fail. Enjoying first few minutes of the day looking the sunrise in the mountains with a hot drink was so peaceful and relaxing. At the end of every day, we had fun, talking, playing cards, and having delicious dinner with fresh fruits as dessert. It was a beautiful experience. Paban, Gokul and Ganesh treated us royally and with respect, we are grateful to them.

Spending last two days of our trek in the Machapuchare and Annapurna basecamps were a bliss, surrounded by the Annapurna mountain range was just amazing, and unbelievable.

On the last day of the trip, we loved the cultural tour of the three cities, we were mesmerized by the artwork.

Hope we can come back and enjoy Nepal again.

We appreciate everything you did for us to accomplish our dream trek.

I finished the ABC and Bhutan Tours with Nepal Hiking Team and had a very good time. It was a great pleasure dealing with Balaram and Ganga. They are extremely professional, flexible, and accommodating. prior to the trip, I had been constantly emailing Balaram with my questions, whether or not they are directly related to the trek. Balaram was always extremely responsive with detailed answers and he was always patient. When I first got to Kathmandu, both Ganga and Balaram met me at the hotel to greet me. Throughout the trip, they constantly checked up with the guide to make sure that everything went okay. Overall, the trek was well organized and I can say with confidence that the team has done their best to ensure that my needs were met. I am already thinking about coming back to Nepal for my next trek and I will certainly go with Nepal Hiking Team again.

Nepal is one of the places in the world everybody MUST go. I’ve been to Nepal 3 times in just five years. Living in Brazil, so far away from Nepal, I wouldn’t travel so much to the country had I not enjoyed the place very much. It’s the best place in the world for trekking, and the people are amazing, the food is delicious, and the views of the Himalayas are gorgeous.

I book my tours with Nepal Hiking Team, which is a reliable company. The first time I visited Nepal, I booked my trek to Annapurna Base Camp and an overland tour to Tibet. Everything was previously arranged. Nothing to worry about. They applied for the permits, put me in a group (we are requested to join a group to enter Tibet), and booked a perfect hotel in Kathmandu. One month ago, I traveled to Nepal to trek the Annapurna Circuit and the Nar-Phu trek. For the second time, I booked my tour with Nepal Hiking Team. I went trekking in a very remote area with scenic spots and charming villages. In the middle of the trek, I began to feel a little uncomfortable by the cold weather, and my left foot was in pain, so I had to finish my hike earlier than expected. I told my guide I was not feeling good, and then Nepal Hiking Team gave me all support I needed on my way back to Kathmandu.

NHT care of everything, so you can enjoy your trek with no worries. From the moment you are picked up at the airport to the moment you leave the country, you are in good hands. Their representatives will greet you at the airport, and you’ll soon be briefed on everything about the trek you are going to enjoy. Guides from the Nepal Hiking Team are helpful and speak excellent English. I especially recommend Raj, a friendly guide, and Lalman if you want to request a Porter. Both do an outstanding job. So, if you’re going to have a great time in Nepal, be sure to choose Nepal Hiking Team as your local travel agency from beginning to end. It’s a reliable company, and I recommend it.

For the longest time, I had wanted to visit Nepal and trek in the mountains. While researching online, I came across the Nepal Hiking Team, read about their Gokyo Lakes adventure, and sent them an email for more info. Ganga replied within 12 hours (the San Francisco/Kathmandu time difference is pretty extreme), and we began planning my adventure. Once I felt pretty confident that the Hiking Team and Ganga were the right group for me, I booked my flights and finalized my trekking plans.

Fast forward two months. It’s midnight in Kathmandu, and after a series of tiring flights, I’m taking my first steps in Nepal. Once I clear immigration, I walk outside, and right there, as expected, is the Nepal Hiking Team ready to pick me up and bring me to the hotel they had booked for me. The hotel (Kathmandu Eco Hotel) had power (permitting of the city’s brownouts), WiFi, clean bathrooms, and fans. Anyways, the next day I spent taking a tour of Kathmandu. The following day I was slated to fly to Lukla to begin my trek to Gokyo Lakes.

After a short ground delay, our plane to Lukla was in the air. Out the window (make sure you sit on the left side) were some of the most fantastic mountain views I’ve ever seen. Unfortunately, as we approached the landing strip at Lukla, the pilots determined the weather was too poor to make a safe landing, so we returned to Kathmandu. Upon landing, I called up the Nepal Hiking Team and they were at the airport within 10 minutes to pick me up and put me up another night in the hotel. The next day, I spent mostly at the airport as all the flights to Lukla were cancelled. In the early afternoon, Ganga himself came to the airport to talk about alternate plans. As much as I wanted to visit Gokyo Lakes, with two days lost to flight delays, there wasn’t enough time for me to make it there. We then agreed that instead, I would trek to the Annapurna Base Camp.

I was a little bummed that I couldn’t make it to Gokyo but was still looking forward to Annapurna. I realize I’ve taken the last few paragraphs talking about my experience in Kathmandu, but the point I really want to make is that the Nepal Hiking Team was dedicated to making my Nepal experience as good as possible. Between picking me up at midnight, springing for 2 extra nights at the hotel in Kathmandu, and making plans to visit the Annapurna Base Camp on such short notice, they demonstrated to me that they really care. They really are awesome people.

The next day, I flew out to Pokhara and immediately drove up to Nayapul where I began my trek in to the Annapurna Conservation Area. My guide, Prakash, was very energetic and knew all the guest houses and trails very well. The scenery was incredible. This was by far the best trek I’ve ever been on.

I and my son did the back to back treks of Mustang region and Annapurna Base Camp with Poon Hill. Undoubtedly Nepal Hiking Team arrangement everything precisely and with care. We often visit several countries and I have visited 70 countries as of now with a guide of course. But the service provided by Nepal Hiking Team really takes the win. From the beginning of the trek like picking us up at the airport to the trekking journey, everything was perfectly arranged. I have no complains. They were always on time and prompt. They always provide the detailed information prior to any event.

For instance, our Pokhara to Jomsom flight got cancelled because of the extreme weather. But, Nepal Hiking Team was so prompt to arrange a jeep for us to travel to Jomsom. As we were on a tight schedule this really came in handy. But the drive took 16 hours due to the consistent landslides that blocked the ways; however we succeeded to reach Jomsom in time. Another instance is when Balaram, the executive director of NHT suggested us to do the ABC trek first and then the Mustang trek as in late September there is high chances of rainfall. Thanks to him we didn’t have to face even one day of rainfall.

I genuinely loved the professionalism and care of the team. Amazing trek, outstanding service! Thank you Nepal Hiking Team.
